William Donald Yeater, 80 of Wabash Ave. West Union departed this life on Saturday, May 14, 2011 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on January 19, 1931 at Auburn the son of the late Herman and Wilda Beryl Burton Yeater. On March 14, 1954 he married Orma Lou Moore Yeater who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Connie Holtz and husband Tim, Clarksburg, Elaine Bennett and husband Lynn, Big Battle Community, one son Barry Yeater and wife Marcie, Morgans Run Community, one granddaughter, Amanda Yeater, four grandsons, Ryan Holtz, Jason Holtz and wife Liz, Aaron Holtz, Shane Yeater, one great grandson, Jackson Lucas Holtz, one sister, Mary Lou Lynch, Parkersburg, one brother Paul Yeater and wife Barbara, Vienna and several nieces and nephews. Three sisters, Norma Lee Armentrout, Doris Mae Prim and Evelyn Ann Nelson preceded him in death.
Mr. Yeater was co-owner and manager of the Markey Company for 42 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the
American Legion Post #0025 and Faith Baptist Church. Don was a former member of the Doddridge County Emergency squad. He enjoyed attending gun shows with his friends and playing games with his family and close friends. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Faith Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 1:00PM with Pastor Jim Messenger presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, Crystal Lake. The Combined Doddridge County Veterans Organizations will accord full Military Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 2-8PM. Mr. Yeater will lie in state in the Faith Baptist Church one hour prior to his service.
