It is with deep sadness and tender love that the family of Violet Renée Bailey, 77, of West Union, announces her passing on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the warmth of her family. Violet was born on November 1, 1948, in Charleston, WV, to the late Albert Franklin and Ruby May Hicks Gould.
A proud graduate of East Bank High School, Class of 1967, Violet’s life was defined by her love for her family and her selfless care for those around her. As a homemaker, Violet’s days were spent creating a loving home for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Whether cooking meals for her family, offering a listening ear, or sharing in the laughter and stories of her loved ones, Violet’s heart was always open, and her home was always welcoming.
Violet leaves behind her devoted husband of 58 years, Howard “Wayne” Bailey, whose love and partnership were her greatest joy. She is also survived by her children, Kimberly Ann Bailey and fiancé Christopher Conner of West Union, and Howard Christopher “Chris” Bailey of Williamstown, WV. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Samantha Williams and husband Jeremiah, Cody Kennedy and wife Samantha, Connor Bailey, and Alivia Bailey, and a cherished great-grandmother to Bowen, Izabella, Cameron, and Kimber.
Violet also leaves behind her siblings, Clarence Wayne Gould and wife Becky of Charleston, and Carol Wendy Morris and companion Robert Parsons of Buffalo, along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, William “Billy” Gould and Patricia Ann Hodges.
While Violet’s passing has left a void in the lives of all who knew her, the love she gave so freely and the kindness she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of her family. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A private Celebration of Violet’s Life will be held at a later date.
Condolences can be shared online at Davis Funeral Home West Union. The family is grateful for the care and support of all who have walked alongside them during this time.
