Roy R. Ferrebee, 84, of Elk Lick Community, West Union passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 25, 1924 in Doddridge County a son of the late John E. and Dora Ash Ferrebee.
He is survived by his lifetime companion, Betty Ferrebee, son, David Ferrebee and wife, Cathy, West Union, eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
One son, Russell E. Ferrebee, who died in Vietnam in 1966, one grandson, three sisters and four brothers preceded him in death. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Ferrebee retired from PDC Oil Company and was a World War II Army veteran receiving Bronze service stars for the Rhineland Campaign, Ardennes Campaign and Central Europe Campaign. He was protestant.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union with Pastor Denver Burnside officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call in the funeral home chapel on Friday, February 6, 2009 from 4-8PM and from 9AM until time of service on Saturday.
