Roger Ray Greathouse

Roger Ray Greathouse, 64, of West Union departed this life on Thursday, April 24, 2014 in his residence. He was born on April 28, 1949 in West Union a son of the late Henry and Valli Gay Jones Greathouse.

Surviving are his companion, Ruth Howell, West Union, two daughters, Tiffany Howell, West Union, Alicia Lytton, Hepzibah, two grandsons, Malachi and Xzander Howell and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Ilene Greathouse, Jean Shackleford, Mary Perine, Helen Nicholson, Lucille Greathouse and three brothers, Henry "Bud", Ervin, and Robert Greathouse. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Roger had been employed at Exponent/Telegram as a carrier, West Union Shop& Save, mowed several yards and had previously worked for McCormick Hardware and Judel Glass. He loved spending time with his grandsons and also enjoyed spending time with his nephew, Terry Reed.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 1PM in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union with Pastor Tom Zimmerman presiding. Interment will follow in the Bear Fork Cemetery, Gilmer County. Family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday from 10AM until time of service.
