Robert G . Phillips

Robert G. Bob Phillips, 79 of Front St., West Union, departed this life on Sunday August 9, 2009 at his residence.

He was born on September 18, 1929 at New Milton a son of the late Mary Agnes McIntosh Phillips. On March 21, 1953 he married Lorelei Sue Ford Phillips who survives.

Also surviving is three sons, Mark L. Phillips and wife Jerrie, Ironton, MO, Clifton Eric Phillips and wife Dorothy, West Union, Timothy Clark Phillips, West Union, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister, Betty Higdon, Paris, TN, two brothers, William Bill Phillips, Follansbee and Marvin Phillips, Greenwood.
Two daughters, Roberta Thornton, Tanna Marie Phillips, one granddaughter, Stacey Biscombe, and one brother, Dennis Mac Phillips preceded him in death.

Mr. Phillips was a foreman for Kaiser Aluminum, Ravenswood, for 14 years, he retired from Local #132 Operating Engineers as an equipment operator. He served as Superintendent of WV Department of Highways, Doddridge County and was a foreman for Precision Coil, Clarksburg. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army as a medic and was a member of VFW Post 3408. Mr. Phillips was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 12, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union with Pastor David Moore presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday August 11, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and after 9 AM Wednesday until time of service.
