Robert Lee Kinney, 83 of Church St. West Union departed this life on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at his residence. He was born on July 4, 1933 in West Union a son of the late Russell and Ruth Elena Hughes Kinney. On September 11, 1962 he married Marion Kelley Kinney who preceded him in death on July 7, 2007.
Surviving are three brothers Leroy Kinney, Nutter Fort, Richard and Rodney Kinney both of West Union, two nephews, Russell "Rusty" Kinney and wife Jennifer, Jane Lew, Ronnie Joe Kinney Jr. and wife Misti, Salem, one niece, Paula "P.J." Williamson, Clarksburg, two sister-in-laws, Janice Kinney, West Union, Ernestine Cox, West Union. Two brothers, Ray Edward and Ronnie Joe Kinney Sr. preceded him in death.
Mr. Kinney attended a one room school called, Middle Point School. He joined the army in February 1951 and was in the 70th Combat Unit Engineers and was stationed in Linza, Austria during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Kinney was retired from Mohawk & McClean Trucking as a dock man with 24 year's service. He then worked in Metal Fabrication for 15 years. Robert was a member of Teamsters Local #407 and the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 7:00PM with Pastor David McCauley presiding. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 after 4PM until time of service. Spurgeon Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Kinney family.
