Robert Ronald Evans, 67, of Salem departed this life on Friday, November 16, 2012 in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, Clarksburg. He was born on December 25, 1944 a son of the late Charles and Cora Stout Evans. On November 4, 1974 he married Carolyn Rae Bunky Friend Evans who survives.
Surviving are one son, Robert Bradley Evans, Salem, three grandsons, Tyler, Jeremy and Brett Evans, one sister, Gleda Grimsby, Florida, two brothers, Roger Evans, Arizona, Rodney Evans, Greenbrier, two brothers-in-law, Don Ribas and Hollis J. Ingram and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou Ingram, Darlene Ribas and one brother, Willard Guy Evans.
Bob was a machinist and had been co-owner of E& B Machine Shop. He was an avid hunter and had a great sense of humor and the ability to make people laugh. He enjoyed stock car racing and working on stock cars. He was a Vietnam Army veteran and was a Purple Heart Recipient. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends, especially his coffee drinking group.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:30PM on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union with Pastor Danny Fleming presiding.
