Robert Baker, 89, of Antioch Rd., Salem passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 in his residence. He was born March 10, 1926 in Doddridge County a son of the late Jim and Lanie Phillips Baker. His wife, Norma Virginia Hukill Buffington Baker preceded him in death in 2010.
He is survived by three daughters, Debra McFall, Salem, Janet Board and husband Michael, New Cumberland, Dianna Geipe, Pennsboro, one brother, James Baker and wife, Margaret, Weirton, ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, his former wife, Billie Lou McKinney Baker, Clarksburg
and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Steven and David Ray Baker, one infant daughter, Tammy Jo Baker, one great granddaughter, Sophia Mercer and two sisters and brothers-in law, Grace and Jim Harless and Hazel and Argil McInyre.
Mr. Baker had retired from Weirton Steel with 35 years of service. He attended the West Union Christian Church. He enjoyed woodworking and furniture making. Robert was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He loved spending time with his family.
The family will receive friends in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 4-8PM.. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 4:00PM in the Nixon Funeral Home, 900 Ridge Ave. New Cumberland, WV. The family will receive friends at Nixon Funeral Home after 12 noon until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peoples Hospice, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330-9952.
