Richard G. Kinney, 66, of Howell St., West Union departed this life on September 9, 2010 in the United Hospital Center. He was born on September 26, 1943 in Doddridge County a son of the late Piney and Gussie Reed Kinney. On June 22, 1970 he married Lynda Gaskins Kinney, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Richard L. Kinney, Sr. and wife Randi, West Union, three grandchildren, Richard L Kinney Jr., Sheila Kinney and ChrisLynn Hurst, one aunt Vanda Winnie Brown, Salem and one nephew, Jeff Friend, Fairmont.
Mr. Kinney had worked in the Oil Fields as a well tender for 18 years and as a Window Technician for Simonton Window Company for 18 years. He was a member of West Union Volunteer Fire Department where he retired as Chief Engineer with 36 years service. Richard was an honorary member of the Doddridge County Emergency Squad where he had been a driver for 36 years. He was a member of the West Union Christian Church where he served as sound technician and served as Chairman of the West Fest. Richard enjoyed deer hunting and camping; he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 11AM with Richard McMillan presiding. Interment will follow in the Freeman Cemetery, West Union. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 2-8PM and from 9AM until time of service on Monday.
