Phyllis Haley Leatherman, of Bridgeport, formerly of Morgans Run Community, Doddridge County passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2009 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born at Farnum, WV a daughter of the late Marshall A. and Bertha Fitzpatrick Haley.
On October 3, 1936 she married Richard Ross Leatherman who preceded her in death on January 27, 1998.
She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth L. Hayduk, Harrisonburg VA, three sons, Donald H. Leatherman, West Union, Michael R. Leatherman, Parkersburg, Delbert E. Leatherman, Bridgeport, 8 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Leatherman was a graduate of Victory High School and Salem College. She was retired from the Doddridge County Board of Education as a primary grades teacher. Mrs. Leatherman attended the Bridgeport United Methodist Church and was a member of the Morgans Run United Brethren Church.
The family gratefully acknowledges her faithful caregivers, Frankie Kelley and Michelle Kimble.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2009 at 11:00AM in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union with Pastor Steven Engle officiating. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. Family and friends may call in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 3PM-7PM and from 9AM until time of service on Friday.
