Owen Pete Mossor, 80, of West Union passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009 in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, Clarksburg.
He was born July 9, 1928 in Pennsboro a son of the late Delbert and Elsie Mae Jones Mossor. On December 24, 1951 he married Rosa Lee Carroll Mossor who survives.
He is also survived by three daughters, Linda Sue Kulick, Clarksburg, Brenda Lou Herron, Atwater, CA, Peggy Ann Starkey, Clarksburg, six grandsons, Michael Mossor, Matthew and Chad Sponaugle, Donald Mossor, Jr., Brandon and Michael Herron, seven great grandchildren, one sister, Mary Elizabeth Thomas, Moundsville and one brother, Jerry Wayne Mossor, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Mossor, one grandson, Edward Mossor, one great grandson, Michael Mossor and two brothers, Donald and Delbert Bob Mossor.
Pete was a truck driver for Quality Garments for many years and he had been mayor of West Union for 11 years. He loved NASCAR and sports. He attended the Rock Run Wesleyan Methodist Church. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army with 21 years of service, serving two tours in Vietnam and two tours in Korea. He had received National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, Good Conduct Medal 2nd Awd and 3 overseas Bars.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union with Pastor Mark Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union with full military graveside rites accorded by the combined Doddridge County military organizations. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, March 15, 2009 from 3-8PM and after 9AM on Monday until service time.
