Ora Coffman Obituary

Ora E. Coffman II, 83 of Red Lick Rd. New Milton departed this life on Thursday, May 2, 2019 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 24, 1936 in Clarksburg a son of the late Brooks and Ruth Thorne Coffman. On June 1, 1957 he married Nancy L. McClain Coffman who survives.



Also surviving are three sons, Ora E. "Rick" Coffman III and wife Linda, New Milton, Chris Coffman, Ashley Community, Curt Coffman, New Milton, two daughters, Annette Wu and husband Christopher, Mars, PA, Cathy Orem and husband Pete, Franklin, TN, grandchildren, Jill Bryant and husband Jared, Williamstown, Lori Davis and husband Jeremy, Pennsboro, Jordan Hill and husband Daniel, Morgantown, Emily Doll and husband Derek, Greenwood, Grace Wu, Wesley Uhler and wife Morgan, of Mars, PA, Hannah Kress and husband Rob, Knoxville, TN, Amelia Orem, Nashville, TN, Colin Coffman, Ashley Community, Jacob Coffman, New Milton, great grandchildren, Jayden and Isabella Bryant, Rilynn, Laityn and Haidyn Davis, Easton and Brooks Doll, one brother, Lyle T. Coffman and wife Janet, Glenville. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Loreta Coffman, one son-in-law, Gary Uhler, one daughter-in-law, Melodie Coffman, two grandsons, Adam Coffman, Andrew Orem, two sisters, Janice Perri and Mary Jane Durbin, one half-sister Cleontine Kill.



Mr. Coffman was a graduate of Salem College where he obtained his teaching degree and played four years of college football and baseball on athletic scholarship. He began his career in education in Hancock and Brooke counties where he taught and coached at Beech Bottom Junior High. Ora also worked for Weirton Steele as a carpenter during that time. He then worked a short time for Smith Lumber Company building houses. Ora then taught in Doddridge County where he coached baseball, basketball and football. He then went to work with his brother Lyle in oil and gas for United Operating. Ora was a member of Blandville United Methodist Church.



Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 56 Front St. West Union on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 1:00PM with Pastor Bill Davis presiding. Interment will follow in Center Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 2-8 p.m. Spurgeon Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Coffman family.
