Okey Curtis Obituary

Okey Harold Curtis, 86 of Crystal Lake, West Union departed this life on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. He was born on October 17, 1927 in Lewis County a son of the late Okey B. and Thora Fern Alderman Curtis. Thrice married he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rebecca Jane Woofter Curtis, his second wife, Barbara Lee Tucker Curtis and is survived by his third wife Betty Mae Curtis.

Also surviving are five daughters, Deborah Mae Burnside and husband Bob, West Union, Vicky Lynne James and husband Mike, Greenwood, Rebecca Helen Nicholson, West Union, Debra Jane Boyce, West Union, and Deanna Fern "Dee Dee" Nicholson and husband, Eric, New Milton, three sons, William Clayce Spurlock II and wife Sarah, Mt. Clare, Ricky "Rick" Woofter Curtis and wife Janelta, Fairmont, Harold Lee Curtis, and wife Michelle, West Union, 22 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, two sisters, Katie Bennett, Weston, JoAnn Bennett, OH, one brother, Robert Curtis, CT., four step daughters, Elizabeth Bowers, Clarksburg, Johnna Stemple, Clarksburg, Lou Ann Lindsey, AK, and Daphne Richards, Mt. Clare and several nieces and nephews. One granddaughter, Suzanne Burnside and one sister, Janet Burnside preceded him in death.

Mr. Curtis was retired from Equitable Gas Company as a Chief Engineer with 30+years service. He was a member of the West Union Assembly of God Church and the Doddridge County EMS. Harold enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed following all of his grandchildren in their sporting events. Harold was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 11:00AM with Pastor Joe Hoggard presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 3-8PM.
