Naomi Smith Obituary

Naomi Mae Smith, 82 of Sidehill Rd. Rutland, OH departed this life on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, OH. She was born on February 1, 1936 on Broad Run, Doddridge County a daughter of the late Homer Ray and Naomi Isophene Ferrebee Swiger. Her husband Tom Smith preceded her in death on December 24, 2007.



Surviving is one daughter, Valerie Ruth Sarao and husband John, Virginia Beach, VA, five sons, Michael S. Hyde and wife Brenda F., Rutland, OH, David K. Hyde and wife Sharon K., Salem, VA, Timothy R. Hyde and wife Sue, Erwin, TN, Jason Hyde and wife Sheila, West Union, Morgan Paul Thompson and wife Tina, Minerals Wells, step daughters, Brenda Wolfe, Beaufort, SC, Karen Smith, Chesterhill, OH, step son, Tommy Smith, Tulsa, OK, 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild, sisters, Vivian C. Weekley, West Union, Cleo A. Horton, Portsmouth, OH, Carrie J. Moore, West Union, Mary E Weber, Menford, OH, Eva Lorraine Kendrick, Merkel, TX; brother, Homer Larry Swiger, Sheridan, AK and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Joshua Sarao , Mikey Hyde and one brother, Frank Swiger.



Mrs. Smith was retired from the Colin Anderson Center, St. Mary's as a Licensed Practical Nurse with over 30 years service. Naomi attended Rutland Church of God, Rutland, OH. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and enjoyed spending time with her family.



Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Hardgrove presiding. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday until time of service. Spurgeon Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Smith family.
