Melody Smith Obituary

Melody Ranae Smith, 72, of New Milton, peacefully entered her heavenly home on Sunday, June 8, 2026, at United Hospital Center.

Born on August 19, 1953, in West Union, West Virginia, Melody was the beloved daughter of the late Bernard Charles Smith and Gertrude Mae Brady Smith.

Left to treasure her memory is her devoted son, Shawn Michael Plance of West Union; her loving siblings, Pam Shultz and husband Dewayne of Montana, Butch Smith and wife Patty of West Union, Rob Smith and wife Linda of Spelter, and Pete Smith and wife Cindy of New Milton; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were blessed by her love and presence.

In addition to her parents, Melody was reunited in heaven with her daughter-in-law, Kimberly Ann Plance, whom she loved dearly.

Melody's faith in the Lord was the foundation of her life. She found great comfort and joy in studying God's Word, spending time reading her Bible, and strengthening her relationship with Christ each day. She especially enjoyed watching The Chosen and listening to the teachings of Dr. Charles Stanley, finding inspiration and encouragement in their messages. Her steadfast faith carried her through life's challenges and served as a shining example to those around her.

Melody will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her compassionate heart, and the quiet strength she displayed through her devotion to God and her family. Though she will be deeply missed, her loved ones find peace in knowing she is now resting in the presence of her Savior, whom she faithfully served throughout her life.

Honoring Melody’s wishes, cremation services will be observed.
