Melanie Doak Obituary

Melanie Jo VanScoy Doak, 65 of West Union formerly of Gilbert passed into eternity on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born at Parkersburg on March 18, 1948 the only child of James M. and Helen E. Groves VanScoy. On June 15, 1968 she married her sweetheart Ronnie Carl Doak and was married for 45 years.

Ronnie & Melanie resided in Gilbert from 1973-1999 where they raised two children, Marla J. Swentzel, West Union, Phillip Joel Doak, Mooresville, NC. Melanie was the grandmother of Paige Swentzel, Morgantown and Johnathan Cole Swentzel, West Union. She was also the proud future Mother-In-Law of Nicole Gamble, Mooresville, NC.

Melanie was a 1966 graduate of Doddridge County High School. She was a homemaker and loved flower gardening, cake decorating, doing crafts and cooking. Melanie was Pentecostal by faith and loved her Lord and Savior. She was a member of West Union Assembly of God Church where she had been a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher. Anyone that met Melanie was touched by her kindness, the fact she never knew a stranger, her laughter, her joy and her love of her Savior Jesus Christ. Her witness, faith, and caring will precede her in the memories of the family, friends and strangers whos lives she touched.

The family of Melanie would like to thank the caring hearts and hand of Peoples Hospice who helped the family during the last few weeks of her life. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Peoples Hospice 327 Medical Park Dr. Bridgeport, WV 26330

Funeral services will be conducted in the West Union Assembly of God Church 203 Neely Ave. West Union on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 7:00PM with Mike Tolley presiding. The family will receive friends the same day in the church from 3-8PM.
