Mary Farr Wallace Secrist, 88, passed away peacefully on her Arnold’s Creek farm in West Union on December 25, 2024.
She was born in Parkersburg, WV on March 28, 1936, daughter of the late Joseph Edgar and Mary Agnes Maxwell Wallace. She was a great granddaughter of Lewis Maxwell and a great-great granddaughter of Chapman Stuart. She was a daughter-in-law of Max and Esther Secrist.
Mary Farr was married to W. Lowell Secrist who preceded her in death on June 8, 1994. Surviving from this marriage are three children – Beth Ann Coffman, husband David; Peggy Morocco, husband Pat; and David L. Secrist, wife Susan along with ten grandchildren – Matt and Carol Coffman; Mary, Lisa, Patrick, and Peggy Morocco; and Nicholas, Lauren, Cate, and Makenna Secrist and three great grandchildren; Sage Coffman, Adalyn Secrist, and Annelise Wiley. She was preceded in death by a sister Margaret T. Wallace.
Mary Farr graduated from Doddridge County High School in 1954 and from West Virginia University in 1959. She worked as a registered Medical Technologist (ASCP).
She leaves her dearest and faithful friend Marcia Davis after many years of companionship, travel, cooking, gardening, canning, and happy memories.
Mary Farr loved her family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising cattle, and living the good old country life. She also loved having a canine companion by her side and a jackknife in her pocket.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home West Union, 212 Front Street West Union WV on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 4-6PM. Funeral Service will be held at Immanuel Fellowship Church, 123 Church Street, West Union, WV on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 10:00AM with Rev. Isaac Richards and Rev. Don Newlon officiating.
