Mary Mayfield Obituary

Mary Frances Mayfield, 85, of West Union departed this life on Friday, November 25, 2011 at her home after an extended illness. She was born on September 2, 1926 in Tyler County a daughter of the late Fred and Edna Hamilton McMullen. On May 17, 1947 she married Willis Eugene Mayfield who preceded her in death on February 27, 1998.

Surviving are two daughters, Patsy Jean Mayfield Heaster and husband Pat, Cathy Jo Mayfield Ash and husband Steve, both of West Union, four grandchildren, Miranda Ash Mitchell and husband Chris, Andrew Ash, Brandi Heaster Gain and husband Eli and Casey Heaster Rogers and husband Brandon, four great grandchildren, Blake and Ryder Mitchell, Zane Weaver and Wyatt Gain, and her caregiver, Dulcie Bonnell, all of West Union. One brother Frederick McMullen preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mayfield was retired from the Doddridge County Board of Education as a service employee. She was a member of the West Union Chapter #56 Order of the Eastern Star, VFW Auxiliary Post 3408 and Emmanuel United Methodist Church of West Union. She was also honored as a lifetime member of the West Union Grade School PTA.



Mary enjoyed baking, sewing and gardening. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 11:00AM with Pastor David McCauley presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday, November 28, 2011 from 2-8PM and after 9AM on Tuesday until time of service.
