Margie J. Pitts, 83, of HC67, West Union passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2009 in her residence. She was born September 4, 1926 in Arkansas a daughter of the late John B. and Eddie O. Simpson Lowrey. Her husband, Clarence B. Pitts on October 7, 2001, preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Emma Jean Lacy, Cross Lanes, four sons, John B. Pitts, Elizabeth, Harold M. Pitts, Reedy, Lloyd Eugene Pitts, Griffithville, Roy Lee Pitts, West Union, grandsons, Robert Lee Pitts, Michael Pitts, granddaughters, Sheila Nehme, Melissa Ingram, Beverly Rasel, Crystal Carder, Tracy Staats, Nina Pitts, Dora Searle, Lorie Pitts, Alica Nichols and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Anthony J. Pitts.
Margie was a homemaker and a very talented lady who made beautiful quilts. She loved to crochet and quilt and was never idle. She donated several quilts to organizations to help them raise money. She recently donated a United States quilt to the Tyler County Consolidated School that will be on display there. She was very active at the Tyler County Senior Citizens and attended the Cedar Grove Church.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union with Reverend Kenneth Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, October 26, 2009 from 4-8PM in the funeral home chapel and after 9AM on Wednesday until time of service.
