Mamie Davis McKinney Cade, 74 a life-long resident of Doddridge County went home to be with her Lord on Friday, May 21, 2010 in the United Hospital Center after a long battle with cancer. She was born in West Union on November 14, 1935 a daughter of Edith Justine Davis, West Union and the late James Kenneth Davis Sr.
Mamie was a proud mother of eleven children, Edie Carder, West Union, Barbara Shaffer and Jackie Brown, Salem, Rick McKinney, Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ. Tim McKinney, Salem, Raymond McKinney, Greenville, SC, Galena Tink Carder, Lita Reed, and Greg Cade, Salem, Shana Aichele, West Union, and Tara Wilson, Morgantown. Mamie is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, one brother James Kenneth Davis Jr. Valrico, FL and one sister, Eleanor DeJarnett, Picayune, MS.
Mamie was an active member of the Smithburg Methodist Church and Mt. Salem Baptist Church. She also worked in the Doddridge County Elementary School. She was an avid supporter of Doddridge County Athletics and could often be found in the concession stand during track, football or other sporting events where she was always encouraging one of her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly. One thing was always for certain that Mamies home was where anyone could feel comfortable. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family, friends and community.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at 2:00PM Saturday, May 29, 2010 in the Smithburg United Methodist Church for family and friends. Friends may share memories with the family from 11:00AM to 2:00PM. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
