Madelyn Willis Obituary

Madelyn Willis, 82 of Court St. West Union departed this life on Sunday, January 9, 2011. She was born in West Union on May 13, 1928 a daughter of the late Lewis Russell and Helen Victoria Gain Bonnell. Her husband of 59 years, Clifford Bud Willis preceded her in death on October 6, 2004.

Surviving is one daughter, Jane E. Merritt and husband Jim of Weston, with whom she had made her home recently, two sons, Richard Rick Willis and wife Cindy, Duck, WV, Mark Willis and wife Lori, Bedford, NH, five grandchildren, Josh Merritt and wife Alisa, Amanda Gump and husband Pat, Michael Willis, Jessica Willis and McKenzie Willis, three great grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah and Noah Merritt, one sister, Pauline Sacco and husband, Marco, Pittsburgh, PA. One daughter Rebecca Willis preceded her in death.

Mrs. Willis served as Librarian at the Doddridge County Library for over 30 years. She was a member of the West Union Baptist Church for more than 50 years and had been attending Faith Baptist Church, West Union. Madelyn was a member of the Night Owls CEOS and a former member of Salem and Lake Floyd Country Clubs.

Funeral services will be held in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 1:00PM with Pastor Jim Messenger presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Friday, January 14, 2011 from 2-8PM and after 9AM until time of service.
