Lillian Pitts Obituary

Obituary-West Union-Lillian Genevieve Pitts, 97 of Canton Rd. West Union departed this life on Friday, June 5, 2020 in her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 19, 1922 in Doddridge County a daughter of the late Claude E. and Inez Reed Gaskins. Her husband of 60 years Pearly R. Pitts preceded her in death on June 2002.



Surviving are two daughters, Lillian Esther Carroll, Washington, WV, Helen Cain, West Union, one son, David R. Pitts, West Union, grandson, Tim Gore, Mt.Clare, two sisters, Naomi Davis, Akron, OH, Hellen Stutler, Elkins, one brother, Corley E. Gaskins, Glenville, one sister-in-law, Violet Gaskins, Salem. Two sisters and five brothers preceded her in death.



Mrs. Pitts was an avid quilter. She and her family hosted the quilt show at the Forest Festival in Elkin's for over 20 years. Genevieve was a member of the American Quilters Association. She was a lifetime member of the Doddridge County Historical Society. Genevieve had been a very active member in Knight Chapel United Methodist Church, and then became a member of Elk Lick Church of God. She also attended Red Oak Church. Genevieve served as pianist at all three churches.



Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 56 Front St. West Union on Monday, June 8, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Wally Rohrbacher and Pastor James Ashcraft presiding. Interment will follow in the Wilbur Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, June 7, 2020 from 5-8 p.m. Spurgeon Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Pitts family.
