Lena Christman Obituary

Lena E. Christman, 63, of West Union, West Virginia, passed away June 20, 2013 at her home. She was born December 17, 1949 in Barnesville, Ohio a daughter of the late Herbert and Eleanor Stephen Christman formerly of Summerfield, Ohio.

She is survived by her daughter and son: Laura and Seth Everly of Sarahsville, Ohio, her living companion Gene Wilson and his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren and her dog Cushie and cat Mello and Dave Everly, Sarahsville, Ohio, father of her children, two brothers, Loren (Mona) Christman of Charlestown, Indiana; and Brian (Judy Lewis) Christman of Zanesville, Ohio, two sisters, Lila (Vernon) Kirkbride of Sarahsville, and Carol (Lanny) Butler of Zanesville, Ohio and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

Lena graduated from Shenandoah High School, Sarahsville, Ohio in 1967. She received a Bachelor Degree in Education from Ohio University and received her Masters Degree in reading from West Virginia University.
She retired from Caldwell Exempted Elementary School after 30 years teaching in Noble County area. She also was a member of the Noble Local School Board and Mid East Joint Vocational School for many years.
Lena moved to West Union in 2006. She taught in this area for five years and subbed two years. She also volunteered one year at Doddridge County Elementary 2012-2013. Her hobbies were sewing, reading, volunteering, cooking, gardening, riding motorcycles and fishing. She loved animals, children and family gatherings. She volunteered at many Doddridge County activities. Lena was an active member at the West Union Christian Church. She was a member of the choir, a Sunday School teacher for the younger children, helped with the West Union Christian Church Youth and enjoyed planting flowers in the church flower beds.

Memorial Service will be conducted in West Union Christian Church at the convenience of family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Union Christian Church, West Union.
