Lee Alphonso McBee, 75, of Crystal Lake, West Union went home to be with his Creator on Friday, January 15, 2016 in Charleston, SC.
Lee was born on April 4, 1940 in Clarksburg, the son of the late Alphonso McBee, Jr. and the grandson of Alphonso, Sr. and Roxie Boggs McBee. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rosemary Paresi McBee, Uncle Charles T. (Jack) McBee, special cousin, Kelly McBee, several cousins and many friends.
Lee proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1962 aboard the USS Randolph, HS7 helicopter squadron, achieving the rank of SA02. His working career was quite eclectic - working for NASA; then in the medical field as a Biomedical Engineer for GE, American Instrument Company, Baxter Healthcare, and onto the fiber-optic field in manufacturing and sales. He was a champion MG Midget road racer and taught sailing at the Annapolis Sailing School. He was a member of Friendship Lodge #56 AF & AM, West Union, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, Nemesis Temple of the Shrine, Parkersburg, Alexandria Scottish Rite, St. Andrews Society of Washington, D.C. and the American Legion. His heart always was and will be in his beloved West Virginia.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 12 Noon with Pastor David McCauley presiding. Interment will follow in the W. V. National Cemetery, Pruntytown. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 after 9:30AM until time of service.
