Lebanon Lee Cox Hamilton, 50, of Smithburg departed this life on Monday, December 17, 2012 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 6, 1962 a daughter of the late Darrel G. and Elizabeth Vickers Cox.
She is survived by her brother Brett W. Cox and Julie Suan, Monroe, NC, step mother, Janice Cox, West Union, step sister, JoAnn Ellifritt, Clarksburg, step brother, John Ellifritt and wife Katherine, West Union, step nephews, Jared and Gage Ellifritt, two special aunts, Mary Louise Cox, West Union, Louise Harris, Racine and several beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Lebanon graduated from Doddridge County High School and West Virginia University and received her Masters Degree from Fairmont State University. She had been a teacher in Doddridge County for 24 years. She was a member of the South Fork Baptist Church, Doddridge County; she went to South Fork from Trinity Christian Church in Marion County, in which she carried an emotional fondness. She started her religious path at the West Union Baptist Church. Lebanon was a breath of fresh air, her love without prejudice, cheerful attitude, along with her full gospel background was an enlightment. Lebanon greatest and last desire was for her life to be an inspiration of unity, both to her physical and spiritual family. Without a doubt Lebanon will be missed.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 1PM with Pastor Randy Landis and Pastor Robert Marino presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 4-8PM and after 9AM on Friday until time of service in the funeral home chapel.
