Laurel Britton Obituary

Laurel Britton, 86, a resident of Cedar Grove Personal Care at Parkersburg, formerly of Holbrook passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2011. She was born October 8, 1924 in Auburn, a daughter of the late Blaine and Tracy R. Bush Nutter. On June 24, 1949 she married Robert Junior Britton who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Jennings and husband, David, Pennsboro, Danita Hiley and husband Roger, West Union, two grandchildren, Alicia Heffern, Allegany, NY, Matthew Jennings, Middlebourne, one great granddaughter, Gabriella Heffern and one brother, Lane Nutter, Coxs Mills.

Mrs. Britton was a 1943 graduate of Pullman High School. She left the farm and went to work for Westinghouse in Fairmont and also attended Nursing School in Charleston. She was a member of the Auburn United Methodist Church and attended Harmony United Methodist Church. She was known for her hospitality and baking. She loved animals and flowers and enjoyed music. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 11AM with Reverend Bill Jemison presiding. Interment will follow in the South Fork Eastern Cemetery. Family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, May 29, 2011 from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Assoc. of North Central WV, 1299 Pineview Drive, Morgantown, WV 26050. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Cedar Grove.
