Larry Dale Swiger

Larry Dale Swiger,75 West Union departed this life on Friday, April 25, 2014 at his residence. He was born on February 20, 1939 on Big Battle a son of the late Wayman Beaurl and Edna Ellen Ford Swiger. On September 2, 2000 he married Barbara Crawford Swiger who survives.

Also surviving is five daughters, Larrietta Merritt, Salem, Anita Underwood and husband Randy, Salem, Cindy Pratt, Fredericktown, OH, Stephanie Moore and husband Dennis and Casey Swiger, both of Salem, two step-children, Doug LeMasters and wife Laura, San Diego, CA, Angela Vandruff and husband Brian, Friendly, 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, three sisters, Carol Bennett, Barbara Ash and Linda Nutter, Salem, several nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Donald "Herb" Swiger, Leonard Swiger, Dennis Swiger and Alfred Swiger preceded him in death.

Mr. Swiger was retired from Bayer Corporation, New Martinsville as a Diesel Mechanic. He was a member of Friendship Lodge #56 AF & AM. Larry was a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason with membership in Clarksburg and Wheeling Bodies. He enjoyed hunting and owned several stock cars where he enjoyed racing them at Tyler County Speedway. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 7:00PM with Pastor Don Flanigan presiding. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel after 2PM on Tuesday until time of service. Expressions of sympathy may be extended to the family at www.spurgeonfunerals.com.
