Josephine Jeanette (Barrette) Donnahoe

Josephine Jeanette Barrette Donnahoe, 86, of West Union, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at United Hospital Center.

Born on October 11, 1938, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Josephine was the daughter of the late Roland and Emma (Phillips) Barrette. From her Midwestern roots to her country home in West Union, she carried with her a warmth and love that touched everyone lucky enough to know her.

Josephine loved gardening, cooking and especially spending time with family and friends.  She loved cruises and her many visits to Florida, California, and Illinois to visit her children.

Josephine is survived by her devoted children: Richard Drady and his wife Shannon of Pontoon Beach, IL; David Drady and his wife Stephanie Bottcher of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Sarah Donnahoe and her partner Margaret Saleh of Ventura, CA; Helen (Donnahoe) Alvarez and her husband Leonel of Santa Clarita, CA, her stepdaughter, Susan Donnahoe, her grandchildren—Heather, Grace, and Sands and her great-grandson, Max.   She never missed a chance to brag about them. She is also survived by two beloved siblings, Virginia and Philip, whose lifelong bond with Josephine was a source of joy and laughter.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, George, and her siblings Donald, Rosemary, Alice, Robert, Loretta, James, Margaret, Leo, Grace, and Marie. Though they have gone before her, the stories they shared continue to echo through the generations. She will be missed deeply—and remembered always.
