John Carder, Obituary

John W. Carder Sr, 73 of Ross St. Salem departed this life on Sunday, May 23, 2010 in his residence. He was born on September 22, 1936 at Elk Horn Community a son of the late John E. and Myrtle Ratliff Carder.

Surviving are one daughter, Teresa Dotson and husband Donnie, West Union, three sons, John Wesley Carder and companion, Anna Chambers, Nutter Fort, Michael R. Carder, Salem, John William Carder and wife Tara, Nutter Fort, nine grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, two sisters, Claudine Johns, Stansville, KY, Wanda Baldwin, Jeffrey, WV one brother, Hobart Carder, Charleston and several nieces and nephews. Several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Carder was retired from TA Chapman Company with 25 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran; and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and all outdoors activities. John was a loving father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front. St. West Union, on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 1:00PM with Pastor Denver Burnside presiding. Interment will be Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the W.V. National Cemetery, Pruntytown. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home chapel on Monday, May 24, 2010 from 4-8 PM and after 9AM on Tuesday until time of service.
