Jennie Sponaugle Obituary

Jennie Mae Sponaugle, 93, of Rock Run Community, West Union, departed this life on Monday, January 3, 2011 in the United Hospital Center. She was born December 6, 1917 in Doddridge County a daughter of the late Charter and Lottie Davis McKinney. Her husband Elden K. Sponaugle preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Sponaugle, Rock Run, six sons, Chalmer Sponaugle, Rock Run, George Eddie Sponaugle and wife Linda, West Union, Clyde Sponaugle and wife, Theresa, Rock Run, Donnie Sponaugle and wife, Pam, Sunnyside Community, Ronnie Sponaugle and Robert Sponaugle both of Rock Run, eight grandchildren, Angela Kirtner, David Sponaugle, Sam Sponaugle, Tim Sponaugle, Matt Sponaugle, Chad Sponaugle, Traci Holden Powell, John Holden, and 9 great grandchildren, Matthew, Noah, Maci, Andrew, Cole, Conner, Laiken, Kenzie and Holden, one sister-in-law, Elva Moneypenny, several nieces and nephews. One sister, Dorothy McIntyre, five brothers, Jahue, Samuel, Everett, Lennie and Ina McKinney preceded her in death. Mrs. Sponaugle was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Sponaugle was a member of Rock Run Wesleyan Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and listening to gospel music. Jennie Mae was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 2PM with Reverend Mark Miller and Reverend Dan Cope presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday January 5, 2011 from 2-8PM and after 9AM on Thursday until service time.
