Jeanette Sandora Obituary

Jeanette I. Sandora, 80 of Rt. 2 Salem departed this life on Saturday May 16, 2009 at United Hospital Center following an extended illness. She was born on May 22, 1928 in Tecumseh, MI, a daughter of the late Jason and Hilda Marian Pangburn Wood. On December 30, 1967 she married Ralph F. Butch Sandora Jr. who survives.

Surviving is one daughter, Janet Dziengelewski and husband Jim, Toledo, OH; two sons, Gary Brown and wife Debbie, Toledo, OH, and Larry Brown, Philadelphia, PA. Jeanette had 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Surviving are three sisters, Marjorie Budwit, Adrian, MI, Maxine Smith, Conaway, AR, Dolly Lewicki, Sacramento, CA and one brother, Robert Wood, Toledo, OH.


Mrs. Sandora was very involved with Nazareth Farm, Center Point, where she nurtured several children as a motherly figure, among them: Dave Dominiak, Dave Salge, John Corcoran, Chris Favst-Zoborowski, Megan Kennedy-Farrell, Amy Spurlock, Tina Marquart, Joey Deucher, Anne Niebler, Alicia Tobin, Jessie Hansen, Colleen Fitts and Allison Loecke and a special friend Rodney Dick. Four brothers preceded her in death.

Early in her life, Jeanette had worked as a waitress and a store clerk, but her pride was in being a housewife and homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting and working crossword puzzles. Jeanette enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends and was known for her delicious pies. She was a member of TOPS, Salem and was Catholic by faith.

Funeral services will be held in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Father Abraham presiding. Interment will follow in the Christian Church Cemetery, Center Point. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in the funeral home chapel from 2-8 PM.
