Janice M Ellifritt Cox

Janice M Ellifritt Cox 94, of West Union passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at her residence with family by her side.

Janice was born January 6, 1931 in West Union, daughter of the late Edgar Hill and Grace Millie Smith Jones.

Janice graduated from Doddridge County High School, Class of 1948. She worked in the County Clerks office for over 50 years and was the County Clerk from 1986-2010. Her life was work and family. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #56 of West Union and the Business and Professional Women's Club. She was also a member of the West Union Baptist Church.

Janice is survived by two children, John E Ellifritt and wife Kathy, West Union, Jo Ann Ellifritt, Clarksburg; two grandsons, Jared Ellifritt, Gage Ellifritt and finacee Hannah Moore; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her first husband, Gene Brady Ellifritt in 1988; second husband, Darrel G Cox in 1999; siblings, Phyllis Jones, Jackie Burgess, Smith Jones, David Jones, and Joe Jones.

The family would like to thank WVU Hospice and especially her caregiver, Rhonda Gray, for the excellent care of Janice.
