James Summers Obituary

James Blaine Summers, Jr., 75, of Alum Bridge departed this life on Wednesday, September 09, 2015 in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 6, 1936 in Kanawha County, a son of the late James B. Summers, Sr. and Grace Jessie Arthur. On July 12, 1962 he married Lois Lorraine Summers who preceded him in death on May 7, 2010.

Surviving are three step-children, Brenda Carlisle and husband, Allen, Louisville, KY, James R. Fraley, Jr. and wife, Janet, West Union, Joyce Colleen Fraley, Louisville, KY; one son, Paul Randall Summers and wife, Chloe, Alum Bridge; one sister, Lynn Pugh, Marmet; brother-in-law, Gordon Perry and wife, Boots, Albany, OH; grandchildren, Carol Ann Abati, Louisville, KY, James J. Abati, III and wife, Brenda, Tunnelton, Glenn Fraley and wife, Shelly, West Union, Kristin Seevers and husband, Jeff, Tallassee, AL, Bryan Fraley and wife, Heather, Roanoke, VA, Paul Underwood, Salem, Jessie Summers, Thornton, Cody Summers and wife, Cori, serving in Afghanistan, Jennifer Summers, Alum Bridge, Matthew Ringer, Alum Bridge; great-grandchildren, Kayla Frey, Hunter Abati, Jacinda Abatti, Michael, Jason and Kayleigh Fraley, Jayden, Jeonah and Justice Underwood, Hunter Sellers; and great-great-granddaughter, McKinlee.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy and Wilbur Summers, and Robert Byers; one sister, Liz Selve; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Hodge

Mr. Summers was a retired from Orders Bridge Construction as a steel worker and was a member of Steel Workers Union, Local 14614. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Pastor David McCauley officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Grove Cemetery, Lynn. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 4-8PM. Spurgeon Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Summers family.
