James Delbert Gum, 50, of Grass Run Rd., Salem departed this life on February 2, 2014 in Massillon, Ohio. He was born on October 22, 1963 in Orrville, OH a son of the late Willis Harold and Dora Seese Gum. On November 7, 1998 he married Julie Todd Gum who survives.
Also surviving is three sons, Scott Gum and wife Natasha, Clarksburg, Willis Gum and wife Heather, Salem, Jack Gum and wife Vicky, Salem, four grandchildren, Hunter, Hayleigh, Brandi and Dora Gum, three sisters, Mary Huggins and husband Daryl, West Union, Becky Helmuth and husband Dwight, Brewster, OH, Pamela Gum, Mt. Eaton, OH and several nieces and nephews and two great nieces.
James had been employed at Southern States in Clarksburg as a dock hand for 11 years and had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and all sports.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 1:00PM with Pastor Doug Joseph presiding. Interment will follow in the Christian Church Cemetery, Center Point. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Friday after 11AM until time of service.
