James Bankert Obituary

James Patrick Bankert, 73 of Big Flint Rd. West Union departed this life on Friday, November 2, 2018 in his residence. He was born on December 28, 1944 in Hanover, PA a son of the late Carroll "Pat" and Anna May Greenholtz Bankert. On May 29, 1992 he married Pamela Fluharty Bankert "The Love of His Life" who survives.



Also surviving are five daughters, Kelly Gain, West Union, Amy Moore and husband Doug, Buckhannon, Megan Bennett and husband Jimmy, West Union, Laura Shafer and husband Mark, CA, Melissa Bankert, Gettysburg, PA one son, Scott Bankert and wife Debbie, N.Y., grandchildren, Haley and Alayna McCormick, Mekhi Minney, Conner Moore, Isabella, Preston and Francesca Bennett, Erin and Alex Nell, Dale and James Shafer, Belen and Sol Bankert, one sister, Carol Bair and husband Tom, York, PA, one brother, Dave Bankert and wife Deb, Hanover, PA, sister-in-law, Jan Bankert, Gardners, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, William Bankert and one granddaughter, Chloe McCormick.



Jim was a retired Distributor for Utz, Mr. Bee and Lance. He was currently employed by Par-Mar, 52. He was a 1962 graduate of Southwestern High School, PA where he still holds the High Jump Record. He was also on the basketball team in which several championships were won. Jim was an avid golfer being a member of Lake Floyd County Club where he had also won several championships. He enjoyed coaching his grandchildren in sports and was an avid N. Y. Yankee fan as well as the Mountaineers. Jim was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Church was a very big part of his life. When the church was open for services you could count on Jim being there, he never missed. He spent countless hours reading his bible and preparing to teach his Sunday School Class each Sunday.



Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Adam Cheeseman presiding. Interment will follow in the Keys Cemetery, Tates Run. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. Spurgeon Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Bankert family.
