Hazel Yeater Obituary

Hazel Gladys Yeater, 94 of Ricks Dr. Center Point departed this life on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. She was born on March 14, 1923 at Elk Lick a daughter of the late John and Amanda Wright Cunningham. Her husband John Yeater preceded her in death on January 21, 1985.

Surviving are one son, David Yeater, Center Point, two daughters, LeEllen Sandy, Center Point, Nancy Alkire and companion Steve Travis, Ellenboro, grandchildren, Richard Sandy Jr. and wife Kim, Center Point, Melissa Wood and husband Matt, Buckhannon, Amanda Sandy and companion Steve Underwood, Pennsboro, Jason Sandy and wife Melissa, Center Point, Terry Paletta, Ellenboro, Rebecca Marple and husband James, Center Point, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Yeater was the last surviving member of her immediate family being preceded in death by three sisters, ten brothers and three son-in-laws.

Mrs. Yeater enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a terrific cook and enjoyed feeding her friends and family. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed. A special thanks for Shannon Ash, Daisy Lanham, Velena Barr and Joanna Blake for the loving care they provided.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 1:00PM with Pastor Robert Merritt presiding. Interment will follow in the Underwood Cemetery, Ashley. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 4-8PM and after 11AM on Saturday until time of service. Spurgeon Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Yeater family.
