Elden S. Greathouse

Elden S. Greathouse, 79 of Sugar Camp Run Rd. New Milton went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 9, 2018. He was born on June 28, 1938 in Doddridge County a son of the late Kenneth and Grace Childers Greathouse. On December 30, 1961 he married Nellie Valentine Greathouse who preceded him in death on October 18, 2015.



Surviving are one daughter, Sherry Pritt and husband Rob, West Union, two sons, Mark and Timothy Greathouse, New Milton, grandchildren, Matthew Greathouse, Morgantown, Shala Ash and husband Cody, Salem, Brittany Greathouse, St. Mary's and Cody Greathouse, New Milton, great grandson, Jaxon Cory Addlesburger, St. Mary's, one sister, Ellen Calhoun and husband Reverend Sam Calhoun, N.J., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Goldie Mae Strakel, Brenda Greathouse and Glenna Kelley and one brother Randall Greathouse.



Mr. Greathouse was retired as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of IUOE Local 132 and was a U.S. Army veteran. Elden attended Blandville United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.



Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bill Davis presiding. Interment will follow in the Middle Island Seventh Day Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. Spurgeon Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Greathouse family.
