Edwin Leo Carroll

Edwin L. Carroll, 84 of Elk Lick Community, West Union departed this life on Friday, November 11, 2016. He was born on January 17, 1932 in Doddridge County a son of the late Ora and Sarah Lasure Carroll. On September 19, 1981 he married Harriet Jean Rudder who preceded him in death on August 17, 1995.

Surviving are four sisters, Virginia Marguerite Williams, Smithburg, Cherokee Sue Fraser, West Union, Juanita Krafft and husband Arnold, Salem, Delores Thompson and husband Jennings, West Union and one brother, James Wetzel Carroll and wife Esther, Parkersburg, brother-in-laws, Doin Rudder, Edward Rudder and wife Gracie and their children, Matt Rudder, Julie Perine and Kellie Cross, all of West Union, sister-in-law, Linda Paslosky and husband Paul, Centerville, OH numerous nieces and nephews. Four brothers, John, Leroy, Robert and Eugene Carroll and one sister, Mary Adeline Wagner preceded him in death.

Mr. Carroll retired from Hope Gas Company with 25 year's service in the Distribution Department. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Elk Lick Church of God. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the wonderful caregivers Edwin was blessed to have, Bonnie and Mindy Swiger, Carrie Hulin, Karen Pratt and People's Hospice.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 1:00PM with Pastor John Demorest presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Combined Doddridge County Veterans Organizations. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 2-8PM and after 9AM on Wednesday until time of service.
