Earl J. Elliott, 91, of HC67, West Union departed this life on Wednesday, December 21, 2011. He was born on June 1, 1920 in Jacksonburg, Wetzel County a son of the late Festus and Mary Ellen Shreve Elliott. In 1942 he married Oma McIntire Elliott who preceded him in death in 1960. In August 1964 he married Mary Elizabeth Mahana Parks Elliott who preceded him in death in 2001.
Surviving are one daughter, Janet Irene Friend Collins and husband Tom, West Union, one step daughter, Cora Bell Morgan, Tyler County, six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. Two sisters and six brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Elliott was a retired farmer and well tender. He had attended Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Tyler County and Blandville United Methodist Church. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 1:00PM with Pastor Bill Davis presiding. Interment will follow in the Morgan Cemetery, Tyler County. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 4-8PM and after 9AM on Tuesday until time of service.
