Douglas C. Landers, 57, of Jockey Camp Run., West Union departed this life on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport.
He was born on April 10, 1955 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Harry and Patsy Wheatley Landers. On June 22, 1973 he married Susan Garrison Landers who survives.
Also surviving one daughter, Teresa Kimball and husband Matthew, Smithburg, one granddaughter who was his pride and joy, Katelyn Kimball, two brothers, Gary Landers and wife Crystal, Port Orange, FL, Greg Landers and wife Tonya, Bridgeport, one sister, Tonia Maxwell and husband Ollie, Clarksburg, special sister-in-law, Kathy Cork, Smithburg, several nieces and nephews who were very special to him, and 2 nephews who were more like grandsons, Alex and Jason Cork, Smithburg. One sister Beverly Landers preceded him in death.
Doug attended Doddridge County High School. He was manager of Doddridge County Farm Services for several years. Doug owned and operated Dougs Shop and was a former employee of Star Furniture.
Doug was a family man. He was an avid NASCAR fan, his driver was Mark Martin. Doug enjoyed camping and hunting and was very fond of his dog REGGIE. Doug developed a very special relationship with the staff & patients at Fresenius Medical Care where he received dialysis for the past two years. He affectionately referred to them as his dialysis family. He attended Rock Run Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 1:00PM with Rev. John Dye presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Friday, March 15, 2013 from 2-8PM and after 9AM on Saturday until time of service.
