Dorothy L. Cross

Dorothy L. Cross, 75, of Marie St. West Union departed this life after a lengthy battle against cancer on Sunday, July 10, 2016 in the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. She was born on September 4, 1940 at Oxford, Doddridge County to the late Ira Lee and Goldia M. Leeson Jones. On September 1984 she married Tom Cross who survives.

Also surviving are three step daughters, Kim Leonard and husband Bill, Becky Fleming and Robin Hayes all of Illinois, one son Greg Kelley and wife Pam West Union, one brother, Ira Lee Jones, Fredericksburg, MD. two half sisters, Joyce Nicholson and husband John, New Milton, Linda Ruddy, Salem, several grandchildren including Addy Morris and husband Chris, Megan Kelley (Jared), several great grandchildren, two nephews and one niece, Coy, Jason and Lisa. She was preceded in death by her son Randy in 1988 and one sister, Adelene Cumberledge.

Mrs. Cross was a 1958 graduate of Doddridge County High School. She retired from the West Union Bank in 2007 after 23 years of service. Dorothy was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church where she was active in the Bible Study. She had also participated in the Doddridge County Relay for Life.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 11:00AM with Pastor David McCauley officiating. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, Crystal Lake. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 4-8PM.
