David Steven Merritt

David Steven Merritt, 60 of New York Ave. Salem departed this life on Sunday, April 24, 2011. He was born on Turkey Run, Salem on August 29, 1950 a son of Freda Cathryn Wright Merritt, Shirley, and the late Archie Edward Merritt. On June 23, 1979 he married Larrietta Swiger Merritt who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Matthew and Joshua Merritt, Salem, one daughter, Danielle Merritt, Lost Creek, one brother, John Merritt, Shirley, Jane Pritsch, Moundsville, three grandchildren, Logan Dean, Gabbrielle and Hunter Perry.

Mr. Merritt was a former employee of Quarto Coal Company as a coal miner. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading.

At his request he will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
