David King Obituary

David Ford King, 66, of West Union, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on May 9, 1959, in Akron, Ohio, David was the cherished son of Nelda Lou Ford King of West Union and the late Samuel Howard King.

David was a proud graduate of Flat Rock High School in Flat Rock, Michigan. He carried a strong work ethic and deep sense of responsibility throughout his life, always providing for and supporting those he loved. During his years in Houston, he worked building in-ground pools, taking pride in the craftsmanship of his work. Upon returning home to West Virginia, he and his brother co-owned King Bros Plumbing, continuing his hands-on dedication to his trade. He later served Doddridge County with commitment and integrity as Clerk of the Works until his retirement.

A man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures, David loved hunting, fishing, grilling, and smoking meat—often bringing family and friends together around good food and laughter. He was a devoted member of Immanuel Fellowship Church, where he served as chairman of the board, reflecting his deep faith and commitment to others.

Above all, David was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. His greatest pride was his family, and his legacy lives on in the lives he touched with his kindness, strength, and unwavering support.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his two daughters, Heather Richards and her husband Isaac, and Kaitlin “Katy” King, all of West Union; three beloved grandchildren, Kylie M. Richards, Zoey P. Richards, and Tucker E. Richards; two brothers, Daniel King and his wife Debra of Foley, Alabama, and Jeff King and his wife Tessa of West Union; brother-in-law Thomas Lambert of Onsted, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

In addition to his father, David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kelley Marie McClead King, on January 21, 2004, and his sister, Cheryl Lambert.

Family and friends will be received at Immanuel Fellowship Church on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Isaac Richards officiating. A private interment will follow at Masonic Memorial Park in West Union. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Immanuel Fellowship Church 123 Church Street, West Union, WV 26456.
