David Sherman Gilbert

David Sherman Gilbert 65 of Center Point departed this life on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 in Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Clarksburg on June 20, 1950 a son of the late Charles S. "Charlie" and Maxine Cutright Gilbert. On June 24, 2005 he married Joyce Scott Gilbert who survives.

Also surviving is one son Brett Gilbert, Salem, one granddaughter, Grace N. Gilbert, Charleston, two brothers, Robert "Bob" Gilbert and wife Connie, Weirton, Steve Gilbert, Clarksburg, two sisters, Janice Gilbert Roach and husband Harold, Westminster, MD. Janet Miller, Clarksburg and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gilbert was a 1969 graduate of Lumberport High School. He was retired from Dominion Gas Company with 35 years' service. Dave was a member of Vermont Baptist Church, Sedalia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and car shows.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 2:00PM with Pastor Chad Ash officiating. Interment will follow in the Freeman Cemetery, Piggin Run Rd. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 2-8PM and after 11AM on Sunday until time of service.
