David Armentrout Obituary

David Neil Armentrout, 74, of Hope Mills, NC passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bolair, WV, a son of the late Rev. Lonnie and Velva Hamrick Armentrout. On August 21, 1965 he married Donna Yoke Armentrout who survives.
In addition to Donna, David is survived by his daughter Tracey Borden of Keene, NH, and daughter Sheri Slade and her husband Buzz of Hope Mills, NC, four grandchildren, Maddie and Becca Slade of Hope Mills, and Jake and Justin Borden of Keene. He is also survived by his brother Philip of Florence, MS, brother Rodney of Kingsport, TN, sister Lura Rankin of Cortland, OH, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rick and Maria Yoke of Clarksburg, WV, and sister-in-law Sharren (Yoke) Bobier, of Walker, WV. David also leaves behind a large extended family of beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Larry and sisters Beverly Fahrion, Georgia Rollman and Betty Posey.
David attended Tyler County High School and graduated from Glenville State College in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological & Physical Science. After moving to OH, David began working at East Knox High School as a teacher and head of the Science Department. He later worked as an appliance and television repair technician, as a U.S. Postal Carrier, at Rockwell International, and ultimately at Cooper Energy Services/Rolls Royce. He was a member of IAM and retired from Rolls Royce after 20 years in 2007. At the point of Davids retirement, he and Donna sold their home in OH and split their time between homes in West Union and Hope Mills. One of Davids greatest pleasures was when family and friends would visit their home on Crystal Lake in West Union. He enjoyed spending time with the grandkids fishing, playing cards or hillbilly ringtoss. David was a very generous, loyal and honest man, and had a unique sense of humor and clever wit that will be missed.
David was a devout Christian. He was an active and involved member of Pine Street First Church of God in Mt. Vernon for many years. He later worshipped at Faith Baptist Church in West Union and Green Springs Baptist in Hope Mills.
