Dannie Drummond, 85, of Route 18N, West Union, departed this life on October 14, 2012 in the WV Veterans Nursing Facility, Clarksburg. He was born July 1, 1927 in Clarksburg a son of the late Otha and Jessie Pauline Dent Drummond.
Surviving are his wife, Eva Drummond, Galt, CA and five step children, Marcus, Dan, Chris, Harry and Ejae.
Dan was a machinist by trade and owned and operated the first mobile wine bottling service in the United States. He owned and trained Thoroughbred racehorses in California. Being an avid motorcyclist, he was a charter member of the Vincent Club of Southern California and he rode throughout North America and Canada on his 1951 Vincent Black Shadow and various BMW motorcycles. He raced with the American Historic Motorcycle Association and sponsored a team of four riders for many years. He was honored to ride with Steve McQueen in the movie The Great Escape, and to know Burt Munro, Rollie Free and Marty Dickerson, who were in The Worlds Fastest Indian and the in the Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
