Clarissa Ann Underwood

Clarissa Ann Underwood, 88 of Center Point formerly of Greenwood, departed this life on Saturday, July 3, 2010. She was born on October 2, 1921 on Little Flint a daughter of the late Dan and Myrtle George Henderson.

Twice married she was preceded in death by her first husband Jessie J. Phillips on July 8, 1971 and her second Robert Underwood on August 1980.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Henderson and husband Eddie, Greenwood, Jessie Annette Adams and husband Donald, Greenwood, two sons, Hansel Phillips, Center Point, David Phillips and wife Sandy, Center Point, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, one brother, Dan Henderson Jr. Reed City, MI, and several nieces and nephews and her care-giver, Valena Barr. One sister Leona Litson, two brothers, Arley Henderson and an infant brother preceded her in death.

She had worked for BF Goodrich in Cadillac, MI for five years and worked for Myles Manufacturing, West Union and Pennsboro Manufacturing. She had been a care-giver in her home for Department of Human Services for 10 years; and was a member of Greenwood Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses. Clarissa enjoyed working with her flowers and spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will held in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Danny Lipscomb presiding. Interment will follow in the Shirley Cemetery, Shirley. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from 4-8PM.
