Charles "Chad" Ford II Obituary

Charles “Chad” Ford II, 60, a longtime resident of West Union, WV departed this life, Monday, March 10, 2025 with his loving family by his side. Chad was born November 1, 1964 in Clarksburg, WV and was one of two children born to Charles Ford and Linda Clark Van Horn.

Chad spent his early childhood in Doddridge County but eventually graduated from Lewis County High School in 1983. He then went on to graduate from Marshall University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. After completing his Bachelor's Degree, Chad went on to graduate from the West Virginia University College of Law as a Juris Doctor. Chad worked in the insurance industry throughout his professional career for various companies, most recently achieving over 20 years of service with Erie Insurance Group where he was a highly respected member of the Litigation team.

Chad was the true definition of a family-first father and grandfather. He loved nothing more than to spend time making memories with his family. Chad made sure that trips, meals, races, or other gatherings were a family event and he truly enjoyed spending time with the ones he loved. Chad never missed a single event that his sons were involved in whether it be racing, sports, or academics and was extremely proud of their accomplishments and the men & fathers they have become.  Additionally, Chad was excited to have gained two Daughter in Laws in which he viewed as Daughters of his own. Most recently, Chad thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his two granddaughters and watching them grow.

Chad loved the sport of offroad motorcycle & ATV racing. He shared his passion for the sport with his family by introducing them to riding and racing from their earliest days.  Most weekends Chad and his family could be found traveling to a race together somewhere up and down the east coast to enjoy the sport they all love while creating many wonderful memories along the way. Chad impacted the lives of so many by continuously helping and sharing his wealth of knowledge about the sport and the bikes they raced. For those that knew Chad, he was always regarded as a smart, witty, loving, and kind father & grandfather and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Chad is preceded in death by his Grandparents William “Shorty” & Blanch Ford and Tom & Betty Clark, Mother in Law Sue Davis, Uncle Jeff McClure and Brother in Law Billy Fury.
