Charles Burnside Obituary

Reverend Charles D. Burnside, 71, of Tarkiln Road, Salem went to be with his Lord on May 18, 2011. He was born on May 29,1939 in Greenbrier, Doddridge County a son of the late Denver P. and Ruby Plaugher Burnside. On July 20, 1959 he married Betty Cottrill Burnside who survives.

Also surviving is one daughter, Vickie A. Davis, Salem three sons, Pastor Denver Burnside and wife Linda, Salem, Pastor Jeffrey G. Burnside and wife Darlene, Hunters Fork, Salem, D. Scott Burnside and wife Andrea, Kingwood, twelve grandchildren, Steven Burnside, Kim Ahouse and husband Henry, Amanda Burnside, Paul Burnside and fianc Kristin Hutson, December Carrico and husband Willard, Dustin Burnside and wife Jacquelin, Kayla Davis, Carissa Burnside, Noah Burnside, Faith Burnside, Justin and Mariah Heflin, two great grandchildren, Jadon Lee Ahouse, Brett Levi Carrico, mother-in-law, Beulah Cottrill, Salem and special cousin Jimmy Plaugher and his wife, Phyllis. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Jo Heflin, two brothers, Edwin Earl Burnside and an infant brother.



Reverend Burnside was a retired minister, carpenter and timber man. He collected Dye-Cast Antique cars and trucks and enjoyed Southern Gospel quartets. He attended the Crimson River Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.



Funeral services will be conducted in the Crimson River Baptist Church, West Union at 11AM on Saturday, May 21, 2011 with Pastor Mike Graham, Pastor Denver Burnside and Pastor Jeff Burnside presiding. Interment will follow in the K. of P. Memorial Park, Salem. The family will receive friends in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St, West Union on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 2-8PM. Rev. Burnside will lie in state in the Crimson River Baptist Church one hour prior to his service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Fathers Hand Ministry, 209 Columbia St., West Union, WV 26456.
