Carol "Gene" Cogar, Sr.

Carol “Gene” Cogar, Sr., 82, of Pennsboro, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at his residence with family by his side.  He was born on December 9, 1941 in Greenwood, WV, a son of the late Wilford Leon and Gaynell Blanch Flethcher Cogar.

Gene retired from Eastern American Energy with over 40 years of service as a Well Tender. He was a collector of all things and was big on telling jokes. He enjoyed the wildlife, hunting and fishing.

Gene is survived by his four children, Mary Jane Guiles and spouse Brent of Bellefontaine, OH, Edna Jean Jones of Parkersburg, WV, Edith Idell Rhodes and spouse Will of Bellefontaine, OH, Carol “Gene” Cogar Jr. and spouse Sherry of Greenwood, WV; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren, with two on the way; three great great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Cogar and spouse Sharon of Parkersburg, WV.

In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Mae Russell; ten brothers; three sisters.
